Malaysians killed in Thai crash
CHON BURI (Thailand): A year-end family holiday turned into tragedy when four Malaysians were killed and 16 others injured after a trailer rammed into their tour bus here on Sunday.
The dead are Tan Lee Cheng, 42, her 14-year-old son Goh Sze Chuan, and two female passengers Goh Gek Lang, 56, and Yee Chai Chow, 61. All were from Muar, Johor.
The injured are Michell Phua; Lim Pan, 56; Phua Kam Lian, 63; Cynthia Phua, 12; Phua Kam Lai, 47; Nixon Phua, 12; Ng Hiok Ann, 41; Heng Heong Cher, 50; Phua Bee Kian, 48; Heng Wee Harn, 19; Phua Kam Huat, 54; Chua Kuang Hua, 60; Lee Voo Kee, 70; Soh Kang Chuang, 60; and Tan Ah Cheok, 59.
The last victim has not been identified.
Three of the passengers have been warded in a private hospital here while the rest were given outpatient treatment.
The bus was carrying 20 Malaysians and a local tour guide when it broke down on the Chon Buri-Pattaya highway at about 5pm.
Insurance agent Ng Hiok Ann said they arrived in Bangkok three days ago for a week-long holiday.
“After an overnight stay in Kanchanaburi, we had lunch in Bangkok before heading for Pattaya.
“The bus broke down twice on the way but the driver managed to repair it but could not do anything when it stalled again near Chon Buri,” she said.
As it was very hot, some of the passengers decided to wait in the open as the bus was parked by the roadside.
“Suddenly someone shouted that a trailer was coming very fast. It happened so fast that we did not realise the trailer had rammed the bus and those waiting outside,” she said, adding that all the dead were those waiting outside.
“They all had head injuries. The rest of us are lucky to be alive, those in the bus had slight injuries,” said Ng whose husband Kam Lai, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law were warded with serious injuries.
A Malaysian Embassy official said arrangements were being made to bring back the bodies.

One of my best friend's (Aaron) mom dead on the crash, name - Goh Gek Lang. I was chatting with him on last Saturday night, he was so happy telling me that mostly whole family went to Bangkok holidays and he can met his parents at Bangkok ( My friend had business at Bangkok so he almost will stay at Bangkok bout one month ). And also told me his family the next day will visit other places and after few days he will met them up at Hong Kong. On Sunday night bout 11.45pm i received a friend call said Aaron's mom dead on a crash and also few relatives too. My heart failure, i kept on asking is it truth or get the wrong info! the friend said already confirmed was Aaron's mom and relatives all of them four peoples dead on the crash.
Unexpected things always happened around us. We cannot to expect what will happen tomorrow. Tonight i will attend the funeral. I scare i will cry :(
